Boost Attends NASPA 2023

This year the NASPA Conferences on Student Success in Higher Education provided fresh perspectives and innovative approaches in Missouri's largest city.

Boost Attends NASPA 2023

Boost’s US Engagement Manager Vince Penza was fortunate to attend the NASPA conference on Student Success June 25 - June 27, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri. This gathering brought together educators, administrators, and innovators from various fields, all united by a common goal: to enhance student achievement. Throughout the conference, attendees had the opportunity to network, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and acquire valuable insights and lessons to take back to use in our respective roles in Higher Education. The conference was made up of three tracts:

1. Assessment, Planning, and Data Analytics
2. Dismantling Systemic Barriers to Student Success
3. First-Generation Student Success

The conference covered a wide range of critical issues that affected student success, sparking insightful discussions and sharing of best practices. A few prominent themes were the importance of educational equity and inclusivity, creating a sense of belonging-especially for minority groups, and adapting to meet student needs. Based on data presented, these themes greatly impact student success in the classroom. Presenters shared successful initiatives aimed at creating a supportive and safe environment for all students, regardless of their background or identity. The sessions emphasized the need for comprehensive support systems and the use of different programs on campus focused on these initiatives.

Vince said ‘It was wonderful connecting with a group of professionals aligned with increasing student outcomes and overall success. Throughout my conversations, people were excited to learn about Boost and ways that it could meet students where they are, as well as support student learning in and outside of the classroom. Collaborating with educators, administrators, and researchers from diverse backgrounds provided me with fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to support student achievement that I have since shared with the team!’

We had a fantastic time at NASPA 2023 and look forward to next year’s event.
